While in Vienna, it is difficult to avoid the temptation to visit the Vienna Opera House, which is very popular and has a rich history and traditions, where famous world tenors have performed on the stage over the years. The theater's staff consists of about 1,000 people and some musicians from the orchestra are even part of the rock band Angizia, which performs at other concert venues. The neoclassical style prevails in the interior of the building, and the most accentuated place in this temple of the muses is not the traditional wardrobe with hangers, but the impressive grand staircase. Alas, that's where the whole shine ends, because during the war it was badly damaged by bombing. And now, for example, on the third floor of the building, in the balcony area and in the intermission hall, everything resembles an ordinary Soviet dining room. That evening, "Salome" based on the play by the English playwright and poet Oscar Wilde was performed. The performance, despite the German language of the actors and the lack of translation, looked in one go. And the most striking scene was the finale, in which the treacherous and dissolute Salome holds in her hands her reward - the severed head of the elder and the prophet, uttering the epic words: "After all, I kissed you on the lips, Jokanann!" The audience gave a long standing ovation.
