Tian'anmen: The Heartbeat of China Through Six Centuries "When I first stood before Tian'anmen at dawn, the golden roof glowed under sunlight like a crown—this was no ordinary gate, but a living history book carved in red and gold." 1. A Monument That Breathes History Built in 1417 as Chengtianmen ("Gate of Heavenly Succession"), it was renamed Tian'anmen ("Gate of Heavenly Peace") after Qing reconstruction. Witnessed Ming-Qing imperial ceremonies and modern China's founding moments (1949). Personal Note: Touching the Han marble balustrade, I felt the echoes of ancient proclamations. 2. Architectural Poetry 34.7-meter tower with yellow-glazed tiles (royal color) and 60 vermilion pillars. Golden Phoenix statues on eaves symbolize imperial authority. Photo Suggestion: Capture the contrast between Mao's portrait and Ming-era stone lions (males hold orb, females cradle cubs). 3. The Square: Where Time Collides World's largest urban plaza (880,000㎡) holds flag-raising ceremonies at sunrise. Personal Story: A veteran wept during the 2024 National Day parade—"My father fought for this land." 4. Practical Guide Best Time: 5:00 AM for flag ceremony (schedule varies seasonally). Hidden Gem: Jinshui Bridge's carvings detail Ming-Qun social hierarchy. Photo Tip: Frame the gate through the Yulu bridge's arches for symmetry. "Tian'anmen isn't just stone—it's China's soul made visible."

An iconic place in Beijing, a must-visit. It's like Red Square in Moscow. Get ready for the fact that you will definitely need a passport, they won't let you in without it, they recently added registration using a QR code. There will be several security lines and a queue for about half an hour. It's better to ask the hotel how to get it, it doesn't always work. The area is gigantic, wear comfortable shoes.

It is not superfluous to be in Tiananmen Square, which is a must-visit location of the capital, especially since it is considered not only the main and largest in Beijing (880 x 500), but also one of the TOP 10 largest in the world. It is stunning, although the impression of her is twofold. On the one hand, everything looks big and grandiose, but on the other, everything here is somehow too much, too huge, too far away and monumental, you just get lost in such an endless space that can accommodate 1 million people at the same time. Of course, if you have time, there is something to see here. The most significant buildings surrounding the square include the People's Assembly House, where the Chinese Parliament sits; the National Museum of China, which holds many rarities; the Monument to the National Heroes who Died in the 19th and 20th centuries during the revolutions, with an obelisk 37 m high; the Tsenmen Gate, which served as part of the southern fortress wall at the beginning of the 15th century; the mausoleum The founder of the People's Republic of China, Mao Zedong, is in front of the portal and the Tiananmen Tower or the Gate of Heavenly Tranquility, which is the main entrance to the Forbidden City. During its construction in 1417-1420, a small square in front of the entrance to the main residence of the emperor was named after the gate, with a central arch for him and the rest for the ministers. A lot has changed since the 15th century, and now the gate is decorated with a portrait of Mao and 2 posters. There are stands nearby, because the square is the venue for military parades, important events in the life of the country and various events. The entrance to the square is free, but you can't just go there, you need to register beforehand (in our case, the host party handled all the issues of the tour), except for passport control, you had to go through a personal search, and the bag (each compartment) was checked. Everything is very tough, but safety is above all. And guards at every turn. You can't get to the Forbidden City without it, and that was the point of our program.
