We stopped at the market in Gudauta to see what the locals sell here and what delicious things you can buy. Overall, the atmosphere is pleasant: the vendors are friendly, lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, homemade cheese, honey, churchkhela and everything that is associated with the summer south. 🍇🍅🧀 But to be honest, prices bite a bit. Especially for seasonal fruits, which, it would seem, should be more affordable. It's clear that the tourist season is in high demand, but still: if you go shopping, take cash with you, take your time, and be sure to bargain. It's part of the culture here. 😊 Otherwise, everything is colorful, leisurely, and has its own special charm. It's definitely worth a look, at least for the atmosphere and local goodies.

Every seller in this market cheats. We have been here twice: in 2020 and in 2026. I'll tell you in order. In 2020, we bought unpeeled hazelnuts on this market — 3 kg, bag. The seller assured me that it was a fresh crop, with a maximum of 2-3 rotten nuts. In the end, it turned out the other way around: almost the entire bag was rotten, and the 2-3 pieces were the good ones. In 2026, we found ourselves in this market again, as part of an excursion. We decided to give them a second chance: after all, it's been almost 6 years. And what do you think? Nothing has changed. They took churchkhela from one seller — there are halves inside instead of whole nuts. We bought 3 kg of tangerines from another one. They weighed it at home — instead of 3 kg, it turned out to be 1.5 kg, plus some of the tangerines are rotten. Is it a shame? Very. The same story with dried persimmons: instead of the promised 2 kg, only 1 kg. The juice is diluted. Walnuts were taken from another seller — again a weight fraud. It seems that sellers expect that tourists will not check the weight and quality of the goods. But buyers understand everything perfectly and notice such moments. Very ugly. God is your judge.
