A bird-watching area. The Batumi Migration Corridor Most birds of prey on Earth make seasonal migrations between wintering and nesting sites. Hundreds of thousands of birds of prey fly over Batumi every year from August to November (autumn migration), which gives it international importance. This route is known as the "East Black Sea Migration Route" and conventionally the "Batumi Funnel". Such places are of great importance from the point of view of tourism marketing and scientific research. Problems related to bird migration. The large number of birds also creates problems: hunting in the Batumi area kills thousands of birds of prey every autumn during migration, including species that are threatened with extinction in the world. Birds of prey are often killed for entertainment. This phenomenon is closely related to hunting, one of the oldest traditions of Georgia. In the modern world, interest in birds is so great that a separate direction of ecotourism has been formed – birdwatching. This area of tourism will create an additional source of income for the local population. Despite the growing interest of foreign ecotourists in birdwatching in Batumi, illegal hunting and uncontrolled poaching negatively affect the development of tourism and the image of the country. All the birds that can be seen here cannot be listed - only 36 species are listed on the sign.
