Loshitsky Yar gained its tragic fame as the site of mass shootings of civilians by the NKVD in 1937-1941. The remains of 7 to 10 thousand repressed people may be located here. In 1995, a wooden cross was erected here for the martyrs, but now it is gone (unofficially dismantled). A sad place.
