There is a wonderful route up the mountain that starts from Gwanghwamun. Equipped and fenced. It's only closer to the top that the climb is steep enough, but even the elderly can do it (Koreans are great in this regard!). Along the way, you can put stamps in a special book, which you can take at any checkpoint. It offers a beautiful view of Seoul, after which I didn't want to climb the TV tower or Lotte World Tower anymore)!
