The old mosque was built by Chinese craftsmen in a unique style for 3 years. An architect from Beijing, Zhou-Si, was invited to build it, and together with a group of 20 builders, he began building the foundation of the future mosque. The carved patterns on the cornices are scenes from traditional Chinese mythology: dragons, phoenixes, lions, and fabulous creatures. According to legends, they protect the mosque from evil spirits. For tourists from other countries, the entrance fee is like 50 som. They take it symbolically. But Muslims leave more, both local and foreign. It would be good if girls were given capes and shawls for tourists, as in Turkey, according to religious rules.
