The ocean in the 1st half of April is full of waves, but it is so warm and comfortable. Hikkaduwa Beach is mainly for surfers. Many people learn to stay on the board here. If you have small children, then look for quieter beaches, Mr. Unawatuna. Our beach was clean, there were a lot of cafes, and the portions were large. It's not suitable for snorkeling, you don't have to take masks, but in one place the mask came in handy-on turtle beach. The rest is great, a lot of impressions from both the ocean and the mountainous Sri Lanka. The locals are smiling. Take tours at kiosks-it's cheaper this way than from tour operators. Sri Lanka is my new love...

Excellent multi-kilometer sandy beach. Clean sand, warm sea. But the waves are strong enough. But it's good for surfers. We walked after sunset, deserted, calm, warm and absolutely safe.
