One of the symbols of the square, and indeed of the whole of Venice, is the bell tower of San Marco, built in the early 16th century and reaching a height of 99 meters. You can get to the top by elevator, which offers panoramic views of the entire city. Above the platform there is a bell tower with five bells, which is crowned by a pyramidal spire with a golden weather vane in the form of an angel figure.
