I visited Mount Athos, in the second lot of the Mother of God in 2011. The monastery occupies the nineteenth place in the hierarchy of the Svyatogorsk monasteries. I traveled by sea by ferry. The rector of the Holy Trinity Church in Belgrade helped in obtaining the "visa". From the sea, the monastery looks like a fundamental pile of large multi-storey buildings. Their spontaneous location speaks of the many reconstructions and expansions that have been experienced. And during my stay, I witnessed the frisky bustle of monks carrying out repair work. They scurried along the winding paths with wheelbarrows and self-propelled loaders. He visited the temples and chapels of the monastery. The church Archaeological museum showed the accumulated shrines. I remember the jeweled foot of St. Andrew the First-Called. They led him to the ancient icon of St. Panteleimon. The large bells of the belfry made an impression. I dined with the brethren in the spacious refectory. The food is simple and delicious. They were placed in a separate guest room. The setting is unassuming, diverse, and masculine. I was at the evening service. The rituals were performed in a subdued, solemn, energetic, concentrated manner. In general, the natural environment, the monastic environment, the life activities of the inhabitants, pilgrims, and guests in Byzantine times created a sense of a special space-time dimension. I left in a mentally collected mood.

We were in the monastery for five days. They went to day and night services, worked as laborers in their free time. The monks provided a Mercedes all-terrain vehicle for a tour of all the monasteries of Mount Athos and the capital of the monastic state of Kareya. The cells in the monastery are simple, but clean, the Windows overlook the Aegean Sea. There are no temptations, there are no televisions at all, electricity is supplied for a couple of hours a day, the rest of the time by candlelight. We ate together with the monks at a common table, everything is lean, but tasty and satisfying, even wine and very tasty olives are served. The monks are friendly and friendly. I highly recommend it for relaxation of body and soul.
