A legendary place! But it became even more legendary after the restoration and transformation of the station into a restaurant. One of the most stylish and vibrant places in Abkhazia, and probably the entire coast of the Black Sea coast already. I would like to say a few words about the restaurant itself. Everything was done at a very high level. They're even trying to tighten up the service, they're trying, it's obvious. A menu with a Sochi price tag. For the fall of 2025, the cards of the Russian Federation were accepted, which is not natural for Abkhazian catering (everyone asks for either cash or a transfer as a last resort). The coffee tastes good. Desserts too. We haven't tried the food, but the menu itself is very diverse. In general, the place is top-notch, it requires repetition at different times of the day / year.

The platform was repaired. You can't get on the rails, when I jumped in to take a picture, a guy in a red vest started yelling at me that I didn't see the forbidding signs and to get off the tracks. In fact, he's right. But to be rude to the guests of the country and to be rude in general is disgusting! Moreover, signs stating that it is forbidden to descend on the tracks hang on poles BEHIND the tracks. Dear station administration, arrange the forbidding signs so that guests who do not reach the tracks understand that they cannot go there. There is no toilet in the cafe made in the gazebo (however, as in 99% of establishments in Abkhazia), but there is a terminal that the staff carefully hides. You need to go inside, go to the bar and request a terminal.

A former abandoned building, now restored. Investors were found , they invested their soul and money - it turned out to be an incredible location for the most beautiful photos. And not only. It's quiet and atmospheric here. You can get there by the train Dioscuria, which runs Imeritinka-Sukhum. It makes stops in Gagra, Bzybi, Gudauta, Psyrtskhe itself and New Athos. If desired, you can reach Mount Athos on foot, near a man-made waterfall. Transparent boats are equipped, there are tables with a canopy along the river. The building itself is now a cafe, of course, expensive. There is also the grotto of Simon the Canaanite. You can take a walk, hide from the heat, swim in a mountain river. Stone stairs lead to the cell, it is difficult to walk, you need to keep this in mind. Entrance 300 rub, guide +100 rub optional. Definitely Psyrtskha to visit!

We drank lemonade and coffee. Music brings a special atmosphere. We waited for the train "Dioscuria". It was so exciting when the train arrived, tears came out. The only thing is, if they put up a board with a train schedule, there would be more incentive to hang out on the platform while waiting. And separately, I would like to cancel which move was tried on in order to hide the kitchen. It seems to be in plain sight, but nothing is visible. In general, we will definitely come back.

Psyrtskha railway station. Abkhazia. 🚂 🌳 🏞🌳🚂 The station is located in New Athos just behind the hydroelectric power station. The railway station is built in such a way that it has three approaches. The first one is from the side of the hydroelectric power station, the second one is over the bridge over Psyrtskha, and the third one is from the side of Simon the Canaanite's cell. The station was built in 1944 and was originally named Dacha. Seven years later, it was renamed Agaraki, and 16 years later it was given the name Psyrtskha - "Fir spring" - this is the name of the reservoir over which it overhangs and the river that flows into it. And there really are a lot of coniferous trees growing along the shores. In 1952-1954, the platform acquired a modern look with a round bus shelter, which, due to limited space, picturesquely cuts into the riverbed. The author of the project is architect Georgy Lezhava (1903-1977). In Soviet times, it was not just the most beautiful railway station in the south of the Soviet Union, it was the standard of architectural sophistication. The station lived a rather hectic life - it was a large railway section, with guard posts where soldiers were on duty. There were two ticket counters inside the hall. A sophisticated ventilation system was built above two tunnels (one towards Moscow and the other towards Sukhum) to provide fresh air access inside. In the early nineties, during the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict, the ventilation systems were turned off, they are not working to this day. Trains did not run for more than a year, and traffic resumed at the end of 1993. Until 2002, there was an electric train stop here, following the Sukhum – Psou route. In 2008, traffic was stopped again and resumed in 2009 only for the holiday season. Then the bus stop ceased to exist and became the main attraction of New Athos. Today, trains moving from Sukhum to Adler stop here.
