This was my first visit to a waterpark in Южно-Сахалинск, and I had high expectations since it was advertised as the biggest and best in the area. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but enjoyable. To start, the park only has three waterslides that aren’t for small children. That might have been okay, but what really frustrated me was that you had to be between 12–14 years old to go on any of them. I understand that parks have different rules and age restrictions, but this felt unreasonable—especially when someone younger meets all the height and weight requirements. It makes no sense to restrict access purely based on age in that case. Another major issue: my swimsuit ripped while riding, so I had to buy a new one at the on-site shop. It cost 3,000 rubles, which is expensive, and to make it worse, the swimsuit ripped after just one ride. When I tried to speak with the woman who sold it to me, she blamed me and said the friction from the slide was responsible—not the swimsuit’s quality. Even if that were true, the park is still responsible since they’re selling swimsuits meant for the very same waterslides. Either the slides are poorly maintained, or the swimsuits are low quality—or both. After going on the rides, I also experienced pain and burning on my back and butt, which turned red. That’s not something that should happen from using water slides at a supposedly well-run park. Next issue: my younger sisters were denied access to a shallow pool they could stand in, simply because they weren’t 14. I explained I would go in with them and take responsibility, but the staff member told me I had to be 18 to count as an “adult.” I’m 17, and when we checked in, I signed a form stating I was the responsible guardian, and the front desk accepted that. We were let in earlier by a different staff member without issue. We explained this, but the employee didn’t care. He said he would get the manager and then left us waiting for 15 minutes, only to find him standing near the pool doing nothing. After these frustrating experiences, we tried the food court, hoping to salvage the day. We waited 30 minutes for a pizza that tasted like cardboard with fake cheese. We also paid 400 rubles for onion rings—there were only four tiny rings in the bag. My sister got a brown sugar bubble tea that tasted overly sweet and artificial, and the boba pearls were hard and undercooked. The floor throughout the park was dirty, and the lockers were difficult to find. Most were either locked or unavailable. To summarize, my experience at this waterpark was awful: • Staff were rude and inconsistent • Food was overpriced and low quality • Very few usable rides • Strange and unfair rules • Poor quality merchandise • Unclean facilities This park did not meet expectations in any way, and I would strongly advise others to avoid it.
