The BMD-1 amphibious combat vehicle is a Soviet tracked combat floating vehicle designed for use in airborne troops and parachuting or landing from military transport aircraft such as the An-12, AN-22 and Il-76. Adopted in 1969. It is an amphibious armored vehicle that moves both on land and on water. The Soviet landing vehicle was dropped from an airplane or helicopter on a pallet, so it immediately went into battle on the ground.
