The BTR-60 is the world's first four–axle armored personnel carrier, which was developed at the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) in the 1950s to equip motorized rifle formations and was put into service in 1959. Its maneuverability allowed it to follow tanks on the battlefield, and it had the ability to float the BTR-60 was mass-produced and repeatedly upgraded.
