Once a year, the Niesen Staircase Race is held on Niesen Mountain, and it consists of a high-speed climb up the stairs next to the funicular. The staircase is called "Nizenlauf". It was built in 1910 and officially entered into the Guinness Book of Records, as it is considered the longest in the world, it has as many as 11674 steps. The staircase is technical, built for the maintenance of the lift, but once a year, upon pre-registration on the website, it is open to athletes. The staircase starts at an altitude of 700 meters and ends at an altitude of 2363 meters above sea level, its length is 1663 meters. Using simple calculations, we can calculate the height of each step ~ 14.25cm, which is slightly lower than the classic step in an apartment building ~ 15 cm. The record was set in 2011, 55 minutes 55 seconds, with simple calculations, we find out that the time to overcome one step is ~ 0.288 seconds. You can train at your entrance, although this staircase does not have platforms with a change of direction, which makes it much easier to climb. Have a good race, everyone.
