Villa d’Este is not a villa, it is a palace. A palace with frescoes, moldings and carved ceilings that you want to look at separately. Everything is made for the ages, with so many details that you just start walking and looking up. The main feature is fountains. We were on a day when the water was not turned on, so the ticket was 10 euros cheaper. Even without water, the fountain of Neptune and all the cascades look large-scale, but, of course, with the fountains working, the effect would be completely different. Everything is neat, clean, intimate. And yes, there are ashtrays even on the territory of the museum — Italy remains Italy, a smoking country. It's definitely worth going to Tivoli for her, but there's nothing else to do in the city.

Entrance is paid, lots of greenery, fountains, clean air. It's better to get there by car, but there are also buses from Rome. The workload is not high .

What a beauty and what a subtle aesthetic, there are no words to adequately describe this place. If you have one extra day in Rome, you won't regret visiting this villa, it's like a creative explosion of Roman architects. Versailles is definitely resting on the sidelines. Peterhoff - I won't say anything, he's my native😉
