The T-34-85 tank was adopted by the Red Army on January 23, 1944. This latest modification of the Soviet T-34 medium tank with an 85 mm cannon has become the most widespread. The installation of an 85-mm cannon and design improvements significantly increased the combat effectiveness of the tank. Since 1944, the T-34-85 was the main tank of the Soviet army in the Great Patriotic War. This modification of the tank was produced in the USSR from January 1944 to 1950. Almost 30,5 thousand of them were produced (including those produced in Czechoslovakia and Poland). The T-34-85 was officially decommissioned by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 1993. The presented tank took part in the battles for the liberation of Vitebsk. The tank commander was Hero of the Soviet Union Guard Second Lieutenant G.D. Ermolaev.
