The Christopher Columbus Monument is located in Barcelona near the Rambla. The monument was built for the 1888 World's Fair and is located in the place where Columbus returned from his first trip to America.

The Christopher Columbus Monument in Barcelona is an iconic landmark located on the waterfront, at the very end of the famous La Rambla Street, next to the port. The monument was unveiled in 1888, in honor of the World's Fair, and symbolizes Columbus' great contribution to history when he opened the way to the New World. The 60-meter-high column is topped by a bronze statue of Columbus himself, who points to the horizon with his hand, as if directing his ships to unknown lands. This monument has become an important symbol of Barcelona and its historical connection with navigation and discovery. You can take an elevator to the top of the monument, and from there you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the old port of Barcelona, the city districts and the Mediterranean Sea. This is an ideal place for those who want to enjoy the views of the city and learn more about its history.

The total height of the monument is 60 meters. The 7-meter statue of Columbus at the top of the column is made of bronze, the work of sculptor Rafael Ache. The column is made of metal and mounted on a stone pedestal. Inside the column there is an elevator that leads to an observation deck inside the monument.

Another famous landmark of Barcelona. The Rambla pedestrian street, artists, living figures, musicians and many cozy cafes begin from this monument. A magical bustle that consumes you and makes you a part of Barcelona.

For a long time I wandered around the Columbus sculpture. There are a lot of bas-reliefs and sculptures. The monument is very richly decorated. I took pictures, and then I read comments on the Internet. No guide was needed. There is a migrant market nearby. So you don't have to let the girls go alone.

And so, since we are on Ramblay Street, we should go to the end of it to the monument to Columbus. This is a truly epochal building that everyone who visits Barcelona needs to see. This monument depicts the entire history of the life, travels and discoveries of Christopher Columbus. Words cannot describe how beautiful he is. I was touched by this side, where Columbus himself is depicted. It shows at the same time the greatness and all the sadness and tragedy of his life, since, in fact, his country and contemporaries did not recognize and appreciate his merits properly. As a result, he died alone, and his countrymen did not even notice his death. Of course, the conquest of America took place in an uncivilized way for the most part, many Indians died. Perhaps the sculptor, having depicted Christopher Kolubm in such a sad way, wanted to show us that he admits his guilt and asks for forgiveness. ⠀ @endriosokol

We were lucky, we still reached the monument to Columbus, although there are a lot of temptations on the main boulevard of Barcelona, where you can stop for coffee, eat, see something, buy something. The monument stands at the place where Columbus sailed after the expedition to the shores of America. It turns out that Columbus's hand is pointing at India, not America, and the pointing finger turned out to be more than half a meter long. And, in general, there is a cool version - the finger just points towards the sea horizons, behind which great discoveries lurk...

The monument is very beautiful, despite the fact that Christopher Columbus points directly at America, took pictures for several hours and left.

Barcelona is a great place for tourists, recreation, shopping, museums, entertainment!…. Over the past 5 years, it has been heavily criminalized due to the constant robberies of tourists in Arab and tourist areas, I do not recommend wearing precious things, watches and small handbags and purses! Especially during evening and night walks!
